Product Description Print lab-quality photos in sizes up to 5 x 7" on HP PhotoSmart A536 Compact Photo Printer, with or without your PC. Just use the convenient 2.4" display to preview, edit, and personalize - such as by using creative effects and colors - then print.nts and can output them economically without sacrificing the quality of the original image. The most frequent uses of the HP PhotoSmart photo printer include photo enlargement, cropping, red-eye elimination, scratch removal, replication of snapshots, and the creation of greeting cards and other novelties. These uses require the support of a wide variety of media sizes. These media sizes include a wide variety of media types, like photo weight papers (photographic glossy or photographic matte), special project papers, transparency, and a calendar kit. A new "straight-through" paper path facilitates media types that are too thick for traditional curved paths.

| Customer Reviews: Grainy photos January 5, 2010 Rachel Lovinger (NY, NY) I got this printer when, after a couple years, my HP Photosmart A516 started producing grainy prints - even with a brand new ink cartridge. The HP customer service person convinced me to buy this A536 to replace it, and after working fine for about 2 months, this one started producing grainy prints too. I tried different types of paper, and two different brand new print cartridges. I tried my own photos and the sample photo built into the printer - same result.
Even before this happened I was a little frustrated with this printer because EVERY TIME I turn it on Vista makes me "run setup.exe" before I can print anything. This did not happen with the A516.
After more than an hour on the phone (and 5 test prints) HP is going to replace the printer (because, luckily, it's still within warranty), but it's unlikely that my next printer will be an HP.
ADDED NOTE: Today (1/24/10) I replaced this with the Canon Selphy ES30 Compact Photo Printer, an inexpensive, compact, dye-sublimation printer and I am so much happier with it!
HP Photosmart A536 October 6, 2009 G. Kieliszek (Western NC USA) An excellent photo printer which is far more functional than the photo printer being replaced. The ability to print multiple size photos (4x6, 5x7, and 4x8 panoramic) is great. The included ink cartridge is minimally useful, only provides the capacity for 10 or 12 photo prints, but given the low price of this item, this is not a big negative. Just order a regular ink cartridge too, when you order the printer. I highly recommend this item.
Personal printer March 22, 2009 Nicholas Clark 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This printer works good and does a good job printing your pictures, just needs more features. I sould have bought the next model up for what I wanted to do. READ first then buy.
excellent printer but January 12, 2009 S. J. Ballay 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Printer was easy to setup and use. However, I have a big problem with the size of the ink cartridge it takes. My other printers all use the 56 and 57 cartridges and their capacity far exceeds that of the cartridge the 536 uses. Considering the price differential, the older printers cost a lot less to operate than the new 536.
doesn't support compact flash January 12, 2009 Lynn P. Miller (Chicago Il) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
We were disappointed and had to return this printer because it did not accept compact flash. We had used a friends HP printer and thought we were ordering the same thing. The description on the site did not specify which cards were accepted. We were able to upgrade to an A636 which does accept our card, but at twice the price. We did not order the second printer through Amazon due to the poor info for the first one. The printer itself is great and produces wonderful prints. The company has said that they will accept a return, but we are still waiting to see the credit on our account.
